Lucky us, another '80's Reyes!!!! By now you know that I agree with Reyes himself who has a soft spot for this decade of his building ( although as a happy owner of a brand new Reyes Blanca myself I can report that his new guitars continue to stupefy Reyes lovers like me as well ). Like many people I avoid the chat rooms and forums, just too much ego and idle chatter for my taste in general and a lot of misinformation as well. But once in a while someone will point out a comment to me that makes me chuckle. One comment in a well known forum said that I say 'every Reyes he has is the best he's ever seen'. Of course this is true, but the poster failed to understand why. I only accept the very best of the best on my site. I turn down many many more guitars than I ever post, including many Reyes. So, yeah, when I post one, it is one of the best I have seen, otherwise, why bother right? Well this guitar made the cut and that is really saying something. A superb '80's Reyes Blanca.

First off, the guitar has a like new appearance, however it is my belief that it was re-polished at some point in it's life. I found a cleated patch inside near the fan struts on the bass side, but I am not sure it was ever an actual crack as it is just too flawless looking on top, so while it is possible that it is a repaired crack, it is equally as possible that it was a preventive effort to avoid a crack, which may have worked, as one does not appear to ever have developed. No way to tell for sure without removing the cleat inside,call for additional details.

More important of course is the sound, and this Blanca is has the typical sound you hope for from the '80's, basses are loose and raspy, and have just the right amount of buzz, trebles are focused and sharp and clear, nice sustain and a very low and easy action. Everything that causes folks to rave about these Reyes Blanca's from this era to begin with.

There may be only a hundred 80's Reyes in the world, if that, two of which are in my shop now, they are highly sought after, and not easy to come by, especially the nice ones. Like I said earlier, this one makes the cut. Oh yeah.
