Wow, how do I begin with this guitar? First off it was provided to me by a kind 84 year old gentleman who bought it new from Reyes in 1970. He visited Reyes in 1969 and Reyes, still at his old Plaza del Potro address, agreed to build him a guitar. It arrived in early 1970. The original invoice comes with the guitar. It was played by one owner all these years. No cracks, no repairs, no touch ups, no repolishes, just original as it gets.

The sound is absolutely amazing, cracking basses and crystal clear extremely open trebles. The guitar is so well played in that every note on the entire neck rings true and open. If you want crisp, it gives you crisp, if you want vibrato, it gives you vibrato from any string on the neck. The quintessential Reyes sound that all Reyes seekers are looking for. The guitar is worn to be sure, the French polish on the back is nearly worn to the wood where the players body as been all these years, there are nicks and scratches a-plenty on the top. I thought long and hard. Do I ‘restore’ this? Do I leave it as is? I decided this was a decision the new owner could make. To me restoring this guitar would be like restoring Willy Nelson’s guitar, it just sounds great and looks used,  and it wants to stay that way, retaining its personality. I did not want to risk altering the fantastic sound. If the new owner wants to restore the polish etc, I will be glad to help arrange that. But for me, this is like an old Gypsy. He may not be handsome, but man can he play!
