This guitar recently found a new home, however I met with Sr. Marvi when I was in Spain and he promised me another Negra in early 2007. Please contact me for more information or to place a deposit for first right of preview. I was introduced to this maker by none other than Robert Ruck himself, not only an amazing builder of Classical and Flamenco guitars, but a damn fine Flamenco player as well. Marvi builds in Granada, Spain. Bob tells me that Marvi built a Negra much like this for Gerardo Nunez, which Marvi says Nunez used on a recent DVD. The rosette has the beautiful earthy brown tones that many have come to relate to the Granada builders, and a well done French Polish finish. The fingerboard has a slight elevation to it, and this guitar also comes with a very fine “Humicase” as well. The playability is excellent as the guitar has a very comfortable ‘loose’ action, which is difficult to find on many Flamenco guitars. The tone is bright enough to be Flamenco, but has enough sustain and tonal complexity to say “ I’m a Negra!” at the same time. No wonder this builder caught the eye and ear of a great like Gerardo Nunez. ©2005 Classic Guitars International All rights reserved |
