2014 Michael O’Leary Cedar/Lattice braced
Top: Cedar/Lattice Braced
Back and sides: Rosewood
This 2014 O’Leary knocked me over as soon as I lifted it out of the case, the Rosewood is just mind blowing…. The 12 hole tie block is always a nice feature and the specially designed “O’leary” Rodgers tuners are just lovely and play off the Celtic motif of the rosette wonderfully as well as being smooth as silk.
What I loved instantly when I sat down with her was the super full, round, rich trebles and the overall even balance of this instrument. Even the G string has no hint of ‘tubbiness’, the basses are full bodies and lush, the overall voice sings with a vibrancy and fullness that is captivating. Although like most of the modern guitars the voice is the main feature, a much sought after side benefit is the wide dynamic range available along with superb response and excellent volume. That combination of beautiful voice, wide dynamic range, excellent response, and superior volume is why the modern guitars have so many fans especially among the worlds finest players these days.
Berta Rojas, David Russell and Sharon Isbin have all acquired O’Leary guitars.
