This remarkable Dammann double top has found an appreciative new home, if you are interested in acquiring a fine Dammann guitar please contact me... The owner of this guitar is a wonderful client of mine who bought several fine guitars from me after retiring with the expectations of playing a lot each day. As it turned out however, this did not materialize as he originally envisioned and in a recent discussion with him he decided that these guitars should be out in the world being played. This is one of those guitars. Below is what I wrote when I first received the guitar, which is still true: This is a truly remarkable Dammann that has been owned by one owner since it was completed and it is one of the finest examples of a Dammann from this era that I have ever seen. This guitar is in completely as new original condition, it is as if it has been in a time capsule all these years, just flawless and beautiful. This guitar dated 1992 and was completed in early 1993, it is an all wood Dammann, like the '95 Dammann that Manuel Barrueco owns (he also owns new 2008 nomex Dammann as well!). In fact this is a very special guitar because it is THE exact Dammann that Barrueco played for the first time in a master class, and it is the guitar that he was so impressed with that he contacted Matthias and ordered one for himself, which was delivered in 1995 and which, like this, is an all wood double top with a 660 scale that he still plays often. Basically a duplicate of this guitar. The guitar has his older head stock from that era, more 'Friederich-like' and quite attractive, Dammann installed single Rodgers tuners. The guitar is an exceptional sounding Dammann as well, and the trebles in particular are dense and clear, just beautiful. It has a warm rich tonal character and ample volume. Playability is excellent, it is 660 mm and the neck carve is such that even with my small hands it plays very comfortably. This is a fine near new Dammann, with a great history, excellent volume, and a gorgeous voice. There is some of the usual 'age crazing' which is in the French Polish and can only be seen by holding the guitar at just the right angle in the light which is normal in guitars of this age. A special Dammann. Click here to learm more about Dammann ©2011 Classic Guitars International • All rights reserved |
