I recently had one of my all time favorite Rod's in the shop, which sold quickly. It was an 86 Spruce Rod with a 650 scale. Just a stunning Rod. This is the Cedar equivalent of that guitar. Any fan of Rodriguez guitars would immediately bond with this guitar, it has every attribute Rod lovers look for and the added plus of a 650mm scale as well. Supremely easy to play this one, a very effortless action. Some Rod's can be a bit taut, but this feels loose and supple as you play. This guitar has a glittery very open voice that shimmers. Basses and trebles both are warm and rich, yet focused and volume is surprising as usual with a fine Rodriguez. The top is Cedar of course, did I mention the scale is only 650 :-) (How many Rod's have you fallen in love with but find the oft encountered 660 scale a bit much?) The owner states that the guitar is in original condition. The condition is excellent, really considering it is a 20 year old guitar it would be in near new condition with the exception of a few marks on the top, all but one of which are very small and barely noticeable. The one longer mark it does have happens to be directly below the G string and in line with it more or less so that you hardly notice it as well. No cracks, no apparent repairs, a superb Rodriguez for a player and/or collector. If you have ever been drawn to Rodriguez guitars, as many of us have, you owe it to yourself to inquire about this one, it is an exceptional Rod. ©2010 Classic Guitars International - All rights reserved |
