What a treat to have the opportunity to offer this flawless early '60's Rodriguez to my clients. Beautiful Rod's like this don't come around very often any more, and this guitar is a treat in every possible way. The owner is a friend of Pepe Romero, and reports that Pepe played this guitar next to a 'Church Door Rodgriguez' that the owner had at one time. He says that Pepe loved this guitar more than the church door, and even offered to purchase it. After many years, this wonderful guitar is now available from the owner, who wants her to find the perfect home.
This guitar has the qualities that everyone thinks of when they think 'Rodriguez'. The trebles are open, have nice sustain, and have 'body' to them that matches them perfectly with the resonant and open bass strings. The tonal character is pure Rodriguez with the expected excellent volume, and a balanced 'open' feeling that vintage Rod's are known for. Just simply perfection.
The guitar is also beautiful, having been well cared for. There are three perfectly repaired and very stable cracks below the bridge, in the usual spot. The owner reports the repairs were done years ago, and they are still so tight as to be nearly invisible. The rosette is exquisitely beautiful. Frets were redone about three years ago, and the guitar has been re-polished at some time in the past. The end result is a nearly new looking, stunningly beautiful Rodriguez who's physical beauty is absolutely matched by her sound. In perfect playing condition, this guitar will delight the next lucky 'steward' for many many years.
