I have been offering Michael's guitars since 2006, and have recently sold instruments he built in 2004 and 2005, so I have been able to watch him refine his vision for many years now. A few months ago when i was visiting him in his shop ( watch the interview by clicking on the photo/icon on this page) he explained what his goals have been. He has achieved those goals admirably with yet another fine instrument. I have had some very knowledgeable guitar aficionados in the shop when an O'Leary happened to be available to play. Invariably it is one of the instruments that they find the most interesting and they always leave saying 'Hey Chris, next time you have one of those in the shop would you give me a call so I can come hear it?". These are not easy folks to impress, trust me, kudos to Michael.

My prior description was "Superb thick, ringing, round, responsive trebles, really quite exceptional, accompanied by simply incredible basses. Michael explained to me that he has combined aspects of contemporary lattice guitars, with those of traditional fan braced guitars in order to capture the best qualities of both styles in one instrument, in short, a powerful, focused and responsive contemporary guitar with lush overtones and a full round sound. The Graf tuners are custom designed by Jorg Graf to compliment the Celtic style rosette are a perfect compliment functionally and artistically for the guitar." Can't improve on that, he just has those qualities dialed in perfectly.
