This Fritz Mueller double top was incredible and sold so quickly that Fritz was kind enough to agree to build me another, i expect this guitar to arrive late February or early March, please contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to place a deposit... Fritz continues to raise the bar with his impressive double top guitars. This one, a Cedar Double Top (Fritz builds a fine Spruce double top as well) is so incredible that I had to ask Fritz if he made some major 'evolutional' advances with this guitar! It is that good. Beautiful creamy basses and full round thick trebles as always, but even more than usual this guitar is extraordinarily balanced and focused with strong fundamental's and just the right balance of overtones so that the overall effect is a perfect harmonious blend of tonal beauty, volume, focus, clarity and sustain. Just gorgeous. Little surprise Fritz has a waiting list that currently exceeds three years, such is the growing demand for his double tops. The guitar has top quality Graf tuners which are so precise and accurate that they will spoil you. Unlike other tuners they do not 'unwind' as the guitar top oscillates and so they help to keep the guitar in tune while you play. The comfortable neck carve, elevated fret board, and comfortable arm rest make playing effortless! The arm rest is not only comfortable, but functional as well as it lifts the forearm off the soundboard so as to eliminate any 'dampening' effect from the forearm as you play. Fritz also utilizes a twelve hole tie block to secure the strings, a feature I particularly like to see on double top guitars. Fritz, like Robert Ruck and others, likes the sound port concept and this guitar has a sound port properly located on the side, near the neck. There is some controversy over whether sound ports really create any effect at all, but all you have to do is play some with the port open, then have a friend cover the port while you play and you can quite easily hear the enhanced stereophonic effect that the port produces when it is the right size and in the proper location. I find it very inspiring from the point of view of the players experience. Finally Fritz presents his guitars in the top of the line white Karura carbon fiber cases, the best protection you can buy in a lightweight case. A beautiful and commanding guitar, with a refined presence, a full array of the best features and all packaged in a fine case.
