This guitar, one of the last Millenniums built, was carefully placed in a home that I know Tom would have approved of...

Tom has only a few sets left of the very old Brazilian he used to build this guitar. It is the kind of Brazilian that is really 'first choice' Brazilian, and rarely available these days. Not flowery, but tight grained and perfectly quarter sawn, the best type for great tone. This Brazilian pre-dates band saws and Tom says it was cut in the old days with a huge circular saw. In those days the large saws like that were so thick that you would lose two sets worth of wood for every set you created just due to the thickness of the blades. This set was acquired directly from Martin Guitar company years ago, and Tom estimates it is probably around 70 years old.

It is not unusual to find artists switching guitars routinely over time, but it is really interesting to note how that rarely seems to be the case with the artists who play a Millennium, They continue to play their Millennium guitars year after year. When asked, most respond that it is because the Millennium's are 'inherently musical' which of course is sort of the holy grail of praise that any builder could hope for. Some guitars, they explain, require you to almost 'dig' the music out of them, while the Millennium guitars allow one to just feel as if they are releasing the music that is already waiting to be set free inside the guitar. As if this is not enough, they also point out the superior 'response' that Tom's guitars have, responding deftly and quickly to any request the player makes of their instrument. Of course volume (and more importantly perhaps 'projection') is excellent due to Tom's highly refined and 'well tweaked over the years' all wood lattice bracing system. But at the end of the day it is the beautiful musical nature combined with precision response and the highest level of access and playability (due to the wonderful elevated fingerboard design that allows one to play almost as if they are playing a 'cutaway' guitar) that places these guitars high on every knowledgeable players 'most desired' list.

This Cedar Millennium has gorgeous deep rich basses and full musical trebles, it plays extraordinarily easily, and is very responsive to the slightest demand of the player. The all wood lattice braced design produces excellent volume and equally impressive projection, along with lovely tonal character. An artist's guitar in every way.
