I have sold David's guitars to clients in many countries and they always produce new orders from the friends of my clients. Highly satisfying guitars that comfortably compare to guitars costing twice as much, they are one of my most popular models.
Many of my clients over the years have embraced the incredible designs of Greg Smallman and Jim Redgate but they prefer Spruce soundboards. Smallman and Redgate don't often build with Spruce. While David Argent makes wonderful Cedar guitars as well, he has really accomplished something special by combining the building style utilizing the parabolic arched back/lattice braced soundboard design with a spruce soundboard.
David's parabolic arched braceless back was created by combining his knowledge and background in engineering with CAD technology, and this resulted in a meticulously refined contour for the back. The power and responsiveness of his design is apparent the moment you pluck the first string. Tonally David strives for, and achieves, a well balanced instrument that is expressive and emotional.
David has built an adjustable truss rod into the neck, a nice feature now being found more often in fine classical guitars.
For fans of Spruce, David's guitars bring all the projection and power that players expect from the Australian style of building, but combine those attributes with the clarity and voicing obtained only from Spruce. If you love power/projection and Spruce, you will find this instrument brings you the best of all worlds, and as an extra "plus" the Brazilian is to die for!
