Read my comments on the 07 Spruce Delarue as much of what I say there applies here as well. However this Cedar top guitar is nearly beyond description. When Dominique contacted me to tell me that this guitar was ready he said “ I think it may be the best guitar I have made to date”. So I was very anxious to receive it. When it arrived I had a client visiting who had been playing a succession of very fine guitars by some very respected builders. He had narrowed his search to his favorite two guitars, and had decided that he liked fan braced Cedar guitars, so he was exploring with me an array of fan braced Cedar guitars. Almost in passing I mentioned the Dealure fan braced Cedar had arrived but that it had sold before it even arrived here (sorry folks, this guitar is shown here for reference only, the client who bought the Spruce Delarue was so impressed that he bought this Cedar Delarue as a mate sight unseen!). He asked to play it anyway. Four or five notes into his passage he just stopped playing and gave me ‘that look’ that says “why did you show me this if I can’t have it ?”. I completely agreed with him. Absolutely magical beyond words, the tone has a musicality and beauty to it so that it seems at times like you are ‘singing’ the notes, not playing them. Beautifully fluid supportive basses with clear expressive trebles harmonizing effortlessly with no need for the player to compensate in any way. The word “Sublime” comes to mind. No wonder Dominique Delarue is being hailed as the new Daniel Friederich. Contact me to place a deposit on the next available Delarue, possibly later this year. You will be glad you did.
