Greg's guitars blow me away, and while the likes of David Russell have played many concerts with his fan braced guitars, I find his lattice braced guitars exceed the expectations set by his wonderful fan braced instruments. Greg has a very inventive mind, and some of his ideas are counter-intuitive, but they work! His lattice braced tops are thicker than others, and he has elected not to use any carbon fiber in the bracing, only wood. These concepts, combined with Greg’s abundant skills as a fine luthier create a unique and highly pleasing sound that everyone seems to love. Greg also places a ‘twist’ on the fingerboard with a bias towards the bass side, that many players enjoy very much. His significantly elevated fingerboard, provides nearly the same level of access as a cutaway, but without sacrificing any soundboard in the process. His penchant for precise intonation is well known and is reflected in the compensated nut and saddle. Tonally Greg’s guitars have a traditional beauty to them, sounding much like fan braced guitars in many ways, but with the obvious benefits in the areas of volume and response, no doubt due to Greg’s lattice design. Warm rich basses, and well balanced trebles combine with superb playability in this guitar to create a contemporary instrument that still remains well grounded in traditional character.
