This fine guitar has found a new home. It is a pleasure to work with Claudio and the Romanillos family and I join in congratulating him on his first sale in the USA, the first of many I am certain. I have invited Claudio to provide another instrument for me. Please contact me if you would like to place a deposit for first right of preview...

Claudio is the "Jose and Liam Romanillos 'most promising luthier' selection, 2007". To learn more about this selection click here. Although Claudio was already a guitar builder and concert artist before he met Jose and Liam, he felt that he could benefit greatly by absorbing as much as possible from them and so he attended their guitar building course four separate times. When Jose and Liam were discussing the concept of the ‘most promising luthier’ selection their first choice was immediately Claudio. They both felt he had a tremendous understanding of building and that he was very talented.

In another happy coincidence, Claudio obtains his Spruce from the Swiss mountains very near the location where Jose Romanillos once found all the Spruce for his guitars.

The guitar has excellent craftsmanship and is constructed at a very high level. The instrument is French Polished everywhere except the neck and bridge which are finished with oil. The rosette is absolutely beautiful and the interlocking ring pattern was inspired by that of a Vicente Arias guitar circa 1885. Intonation is excellent as both bridge and saddle are compensated. Claudio uses the three hole tie block which provides exceptionally secure anchoring of the strings.

The tone is, no surprise, Romanillos inspired, and the influence is immediately apparent when you play the instrument. I find the tone quite pleasing and it has a light and open sound without sounding harsh as some new Spruce guitars can. My opinion is that it is going to open up beautifully when played in. Playing in a Spruce guitar has to be one of the many delights of acquiring a new guitar.

A fine guitar, of excellent woods, demonstrating a high quality of craftsmanship and a nice 'Romanillos inspired' sound, from a builder that was personally selected by Liam and Jose as the first recipient of their ‘promising luthier’ selection. A very nice combination of attributes indeed. I am pleased to introduce Claudio to my clients around the world, and pleased to offer this instrument at a special introductory price. I am certain that Claudio Meneghelli will be a name we will all come to recognize as a fine builder.
