Classic Guitars International for fine classical and flamenco guitars, Chris Kamen
2002 Paulino Bernabe "Especial"
Top: Cedar
Sides & Back: Brazilian Rosewood
Scale: 650 mm • Origin: Spain
Price: SOLD

As Paulino’s exclusive US representative I sell many new Bernabe guitars, but it is rare for me to have a pre-owned Bernabe to offer. So it was a treat for me when this guitar was sent to me by one of my clients. Like all ‘Especial’ guitars it is an exceptional example of the Spanish guitar by one of Spains preeminent builders. As always, especially with his Cedar guitars, volume is abundant, rivaling that of some lattice braced guitars. The unique bracing system provides a tonal quality that is singularly ‘Bernabe’ and is no doubt one of the many reasons why Bernabe guitars are prized by so many players. The back and sides are doubled, which also assists volume and projection. The inner lining is of Indian Rosewood, the outer lining is of Brazilian Rosewood. This guitar has a delightful presence and a Cedar quality to the sound that combines with the well loved ‘Bernabe character’ to produce a romantic, yet robust Spanish sound. The instrument has been well cared for and presents with very slight playing wear and a few very minor marks, otherwise in super condition with no cracks and no repairs. A nicely played in, well cared for Bernabe with the characteristic Bernabe personality that has created a world-wide demand for these guitars.
